How to drive the Gilbert-cell mixer ?

Hi all I am currently interested in the Gilbert cell mixer and wonder
how it is supposed to be driven....
The L.O. is fed to the dubble differrential. Should they be driven into saturation ?
The dubble differential is cascoded on a single differential to where the RF is fed. Saturation driven ?
Perhaps somebody has a reference to a unbalanced Gilbert cell configuration ?
Kindest regards,

In a doubly balanced Gilbert cell mixer, where both LO and RF signals are differential. The LO transistor could be biased in triode region due to its switching action in operation. Moreover a high frequency sinusiodal LO signal changes abrutly where it equivalent to a square wave signal.
The RF fed transistors should be biased in saturation region.
