indoor atenuation parameters (WLAN)
Also information about indoor Wlan coverege areas could help.
Thanks in advance.
hi
...indoor propagation is very dependent on a lot of parameters like: frequency, signal bandwidth, Tx-Rx distance, LOS or NLOS conditions, ...etc.
There are some models available on a lot of IEEE papers, basically grouped in Statistical models (based on statistics of measurements) and Deterministic models (based on ray tracing).
Deterministic models usually takes into account the EM properties of the objects that obstructs the signal, so maybe you need to look for this kind of models (the one that better adjust to your needs). Search on ieeexplore and citeseer.
for example, take a look to this paper:
Prediction and Measurement of Wall Insertion Loss
Thad B. Gibson and David C. Jenn,
IEEE TRANS. ON ANTENNAS AND PROP. VOL. 47, NO. 1, JANUARY 1999
pp 55-57
hope it be helpul
regards
Your best bet is to take two battery powered computers with 802.11 cards which have software with signal strength readout. Walk both of them around the building and see what signal levels you get with them communicating with each other. It is very surprising what paths work and do not work. one example is the path out a window, reflecting from a building and then entering a window in the first building.
hi people, thanks for your answers.
Ninhawk, do you happend to have this paper ? if yes, please upload it cause i can′t find it in here.
Flatulent, your idea of moving around and measuring signal is all right if you are in the place. But i mean to plan where the Ap′s and repeaters should be whitout actually going there. :)
Thanks a lot !
here you are
