Powerline Communication

时间:04-11 整理:3721RD 点击:
Hi ,

I am currently working on a project that involves powerline communication . I need to send data using powerline over a distance of 500m. I tried looking up the net and the LonWorks Solution by echelon seems promising using the PL 3120 Transceiver.

Has anybody ever tried this before ? Any other chips / transceivers that are worth considering ?

The transmission speed is an important factor here . 1 Kbps would be ideal . So in that context X 10 is kinda ruled out .

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards ,
Ram

Maxim has some ICs for powerline communication. Pls visit here

Good luck.

There are several chips you can use and that are offered. I think you should consider the requirements. Powerlines are too noisy with high levels of attenuation, specially for long distances.

Be carefull with levels of performance that appear in datasheets. Sometimes these are not clear.

It is important to correctly select the modulation technique and then to select the commercial hardware. A robust thechnique is OFDM, specially when it is used with long symbol durations, even when the bw is narrow and the bit rate is low.

Cogency offers some OFDM chips.

Another powerline solution that uses OFDM is SPC200 from SPiDCOM Technologies (www.spidcom.com). They say that this solution is fastest in the world since it delievers 224 Mbit/s.

Maybe it can help.
Cheers
