Measurement of transmitter output power?
I have a transmitter with output power of 5 watt. I wanted to check the power of transmitter but I dont have the power meter. Is there any way to measure the power of transmitter with out power meter. Kindly let me know
Regards
You can try to connect a resistive load, say, 50Ω.
Next build a peak voltage detector ( http://people.deas.harvard.edu/~jone...iode_appl.html ) and using a standard voltmeter measure the peak voltage.
Using common formulas you will be able to calculate the RMS value and output power ..
y can use the power spectrum to test the transmitted power of your transmitter,if your transmitter is pulsed transmitter, then y can modify it with the duty factor!
Like springf2000 said, if you transmit a pulsed signal by FDM then you can measure total output power with a spectrum analyser(S.A.).
If you transmit a single carrier then your total power will be:
Total power(dBm)=MarkerSignal(dBm)+10*log10(BWsignal/RBW)
RBW: Resolution Bandwith of S.A.
If you transmit more carriers you can sum power of each carrier.
