I want some comments from experts ... ..........
IS EM sight from AWR and momentum from agilent is not able to solve all problems
and if this is true then please illustrate "what are those problems" which are not adderessed by these EM simulators.
I recently loaded sonnet was given with EFY CD
and WHY sonnet is best among all so every SIM have interface to sonnet
thanks n regards

Hi gbaerf,
Here are my comments
A. AWR EMSight is an integrated 3D planar EMsimulator...in the sense it is tightly integrated to circuit simulators...
Hence it is targeted to different applications & solutions ex: RF PCB, MIC & MMIC
circuit design analysis...Since it is based on MOM & it is a sheilded / closed box simulator it has some advantages / disadvatages...
Good for determining cross-coupling with high dynamic range (-80dB)
B. Again momentum is also an integrated EM Simulator but it is available as a standalone product...
This also addresses same applications & MOM based... but it is an open environment..
Hence Lacks robustness and accuracy, especially when pushing limits...
Generally not reliable beyond a 40 to 50 dB dynamic range.
C. Sonnet is a dedicated 3D planar EM simulator (MOM & Closed/sheilded sim)...
Hence it has lot of capabilities for EM analysis, which are not available in EMSight or Momentum such as ABS algorithm, Conformal mesh, Thick metal option , etc....
Also it is very fast & accurate...Hence even @gilent & AWR provide an interface to this simulator...
And a final comment is that....each simulator has different advantages & targeted to different applications...hence you need to choose smoe time multiple EM sim. depending on your verification requirement...
I also suggest you to go through the following EDA board posting for more details...

Thanks for your help ..
but could you please give some inlights on shielded based and open based ....
Em sight is creat I guess one box then simulate structure on that so that I gusess
closed form right...
and what exactly mean by shilded here ...
and the same as you told about the agilent momentum it is open based
and what is the advantage of thick metal and conformal meshing in sonnet..
thanks in advance

thanks
i saw the artical uploaded about the conformal meshing
Nice...Here are the details on Thickmetal in Sonnet as attached

Read Chapter 5 from Pages 89 to 92 of the following book to understand
