How to plot Gmax of an inductor in ADS?
What can I tell from Gmax about the inductor?
Thanks.
Don't know about ADS, but you can always save an S-parameter file, then download free SonnetLite (www.sonnetsoftware.com, I work for Sonnet), bring up the data viewer and a couple clicks later you have the plot you want.

I do not understand what you intend for Gmax of a passive. Before talking about a simulator, please clarify the definition of the parameter you are looking at.
I hope I can help you.

Gmax for a passive component gives you the maximum value of S21 for any possible passive termination. This is the way to compare the loss of different components. If you just look at S21 normalized to 50 Ohms, a component with less loss might have worse S21 due to poorer match into 50 Ohms.
That's the answer I am looking for. Gmax is the maximum gain of a circuit when it is simultaneously input and output conjugate matched. It can be get from the ADS function max_gain(S). Like what rautio said, Gmax of an inductor gives the loss of the inductor. I find out this shortly after I post this topic. Anyway, thanks you guys.
