10*1*2 mm3 2.4ISM antenna: is it possible?

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to browse some literature to find out is it possible to make a printed antenna of dimensions 10×1×2 [mm3], operating in ISM2.4GHz band. It may be in monopole/IFA configuration, may be also printed above the ground plane.

Do you think it may be possible to miniaturize the element so much, and still have enough impedance bandwidth? Lets assume that radiation pattern is not important now.

I would be grateful for any discussion!

Jerzyg

yes it possible look at

buy it and open it

Thanks Plasma!

Yes, those guys make meander-type printed antennas, probably without ground plane under radiator, so kind of monopole-like antennas. However I'm wondering what kind of input impedance do they get. I am also interested about quality factor. Do you know any papers about this kind of solutions?

I don't know but I think you can buy one copy it to simulation tool and try to analyze it

Thanks again! Yes, that?s an idea. However in the commercial solutions the antenna design (hopefully) includes effects of integration, casing etc.
Currently I am running some simulations with different meander printed lines, but within this volume I can not go lower than 4GHz. It seems that the coupling between antenna arms limits the ability to further lowering the resonant frequency.

Jerzyg
