Chirp Harmonic Radar

Hello all,

I would be designing and building a Chirp Harmonic Radar for a upcoming project.

Any suggestions for links or books would be helpful.

Many Thanks.

I have books on general radar systems and stuff. They usually have only some sections on Chirp signals and perhaps no mention on harmonic recievers.

I am looking for some literature that would focus on these two areas particularly.

And what is a "harmonic receiver"?

A radar reciever thats recieving at frequencies which are harmonics of the original transmit frequency.

That is what a harmonic radar basically is.

I need details on it, particualrly the hardware etc.

Never heard of that!

I have heard of high power radars generating harmonics from "diodes" formed by a structures loose fitting metal panels, but the power returned would be very small (ie only detectable with multi kW transmit powers).

How are you generating harmonic energy from the target?

Exactly!

The harmonics would be generated by the junctions (metal-metal or metal-nonmetal) acting as diodes. The ultimate aim is to pinpoint those exact locations where these junctions exist. Maybe resolution requirement would be very high....

Interesting. You would have to double the freqeuncy of the transmitted signal to form a local oscillator.
