feed method for antenna

I would like to ask what common feed methods for antennas are. And what are the effects different from each other?

Depends on the antenna you want to make.dipole requires a balun.if there is no balun patterns get distorted.monopole doesnt require one.patch is planar, can be fed by a microstrip or a cable, etc.
