Doubts about unloaded Q
Pls clarify my doubt on unloaded Q.
Is Unloaded Q is component Q or not?
Loaded Q is 3dB bandwidth curve Q or not?
Thank u all.
Unloaded Q is indeed component Q
Loaded Q for a resonator or filter also takes the resistive load into account, which reduces the unloaded Q to a lower factor.
Thank you very much.
I have another doubt, if i want to design a narrow bandwidth filter. i have to select high unloaded components.
when using this unloaded components. is it sure to give good narrow band filter.
Not only the Q of the components is important in high-Q filter design. The number of poles is important. Sometimes filters using more poles give higher-Q than filters with less number of poles. This is a contradiction because you are adding more resistive loss, but the reason is that you get less load on each component. Optimization is necessarily here.
One should be careful here:
Unloaded Q - component quality
Loaded Q - applicable to resonators
Q of the load -affected by choice of values and required bandwidth
