How does human body can double the range of a RF remote?

I have been told that if you put your car's keyless remote to your chin or other parts of your body, then it'll increase the range of the remote almost two-fold. I have actually tried this myself, and it seems to really work. The question is why? I have done some research online, but was unable to find anything substantial to prove how it works. Most postings say that the "human body" essentially becomes an antenna to double the range.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue, or provide some solid evidence on how it works.

Just a for fun question, keeping it real on EDA board. =)

What's the transmission power of the original electronic transmitter/antenna (keyless remote in your case)?

Does this conductivity & transmission causes any harm to the body, specially the brain?

Well, frequency range for keyless remote is anywhere from 300-500Mhz.

It has to do with Da Law!

Your keyless remote transmitter can only transmit a very limited amount of RF power, due to your country's unlicensed band RF radiation limits. The transmitter was carefully designed to not exceed that maximum radiated power.

By holding the transmitter in the right manner, you could increase the efficiency of its small loop antenna and get a much larger transmit signal. Putting it next to the right sized piece of metal would be more effective than your body.

i think that the way you hold the keyless cuz it contain an antenna so it will depend on the position of the anntena .
about the humman body it can act as an antenna but check the range of the frequency

This is a well know phenomena. About 16 years ago, RF Design magazine had some articles on this.

About 45 years ago the US Army did research on using trees as antennas in the HF range.

Obviously...
if ur body is meant to be a conductor each and every cells exposive to the radiation is going to get its hazards... and every em wave has its radiation to be showered on to the body.... It ll be affecting....
