Products that have 2.4Ghz active RFID

Are there any matured products for this frequency range?
Any drawbacks on such as power consumption, bandwidth and cost.

I am also looking for the similar... Why active tags? Although I am also in favor of active tags and GHz range freqs for large area covering, but tell me your idea...also how much distance you wanna cover say 2000m? is that even possible with simple systems?

what about the chip cc1100 from Chipcon ( this chip includes MCU) do u think we can use it ?
