Attention: in radar, NAUTICAL miles are used (1 NM=1852 meters).
In addition, accurate radar range measurement must use the correct value of the speed of light (NOT 3e8 m/s).

There is also the "slant range" which is the direct line to the airplane which is different than the range to the point on the surface of the earth directly below the airplane.
