Question-dielectric filter, SAW filter, ceramic difference
Could anyone teach me what are the advantages and disadvantages under 5GHz between them? (operating frequency? high Q?....) Thanks.
Dielectric filter, to big
saw filter high loss good selectivity
ceramic, low loss
Hi, Alvin
At first ceramic is also a kind of dielectric.
Below 5GHz the main purpose of designing filter for band-selectivity in mobile devices is to improve the selectivity and reduce its size. Single-block filters based on high permittivity ceramic suitable for SMT(surface mounting technoloby) was uese long time ago. After a while, SAW filter with accoustic-microwave energy transformer has a small insertion loss and very compact size because of the microelectronic process, which makes SAW filter for mobile devices.
But at high microwave frequencies, high Q ceramic resonator and filter are used for high quality application.
