Why linearity will be improved if the power consumption is increased?
i dont understand why linearity will be improved if the power consumption is increased?
pls try to explain..
thansk...
Right and wrong.
Depend on the biasing, the linearity could become better or worse. However,if the biasing is correct, the more power consumption, the more dynamic range for the amplifier to swing, and the more linearity it could achieve.
As a rule of thumb, IP3 is 10 dB above P1dB. When you sweep Pin, IP3 usually roll off quickly when Pout approaches P1dB. With increased bias current, you will get improved P1dB, i.e. you extend IP3 performance to higher Pout.
However, in the backoff area, IP3 performace is intrinsic to the device you are using. Some good device can give you IP3 performance which is 17dB above P1dB.
Actually the way to say is: ?when the linearity is improved the power consumption is going higher?
The reason is direct related to the conduction angle (power class) vs efficiency graph..
if the input vs output is constant, then the linearity is good.
if the total power comsume is increased, the the maximum output power will also increase if you design is similar.
then you can say that the linearity is also increased
