What DC mean for the industral monitor optical receiver?

Hi,
For many industral control monitor optical receivers, it defined its datarate is DC-500KHz. I wonder what ever DC mean here?It is really a very low frequency signal like low to 10Hz 010101... signal? Or it is in fact works in 500KHz, but because the long "1""0", it corresponding the verly low frequency?

There is the descranpancy between them, because the former has very slow rise/fall time @10Hz while the later still has the the sharp rise/fall time because it in fact works with the 500KHz signal but with long continuous"1" or "0".

Thanks for the help.

the mean of the 0 and 1 voltage
because this is a kind of PRBS and have the same probility of 0 and 1

It means the receiver is direct coupled to the photodetector. If you send a 1 to it and leave it there, an hour later the receiver's output is still a 1.

Hi Biff44,
Thanks for the reply. It is helpful to me.

The question here is what is the rise time of this bit? It is critical to our design.

Put it another way, if our applicatons works in 100KHz, it operate at 100KHz, then a bit "1"sent to the receiver, and after long time the rceiver out is still "1".But the rise/fall time of this bit is same as that of 100KHz,right?

Another question, in the applications, the operating freq will not change instantly, although it is PRBS pattern. That is to say, if an application need 100KHz, during th eoperation, it will not change to 20KHz or any other freq. Is it?

Thanks for the help.

If the part is rated for a 500 KHz data rate, then the rise or fall time would have to be faster than ~1 us each.
