fractal antennas
can someone explain to me what is fractal antennas. what is the sierpinski carpet antenna. how it works and what is it all about.
thank you very much.
Hi there,
fractal is a mathematical construction that is self-similar, which means that you can cut out a piece of a fractal an it would look the same as the original figure. Fractals are used to design antennas, such as sierpinski gasket (search for sierpinski triangle - it's hard to describe it because of its shape), because it helps to make the antenna smaller and work in a multi-band mode. However, real fractals are not used to design antennas because of the technological limitations. If you really want to know somethoing more abiut it, simply search for it in the net. Fractals antennas are planar microstrip antennas.
Best regards

In general, a single fractal antenna is designed for multi-band work (ie. Sierpinski gasket) and the smaller size is an advantage in antenna arrays..
Not only... fractal antennas are also wire antennas and even you can add to this category FSS.
Best wishes!
Hi,.
Can you explain more the similarities between FSS and fractals?
and one more question,
can we use FSS with futures that fractals provide us?
Thank you.
Hi zorill

hi, am really concerned about this topic alot , and will be grateful if someone can help in analyzing Koch dipole fractal antenna , using HFSS 10 !
