ansoft designer connector
Can anybody help me how to do the EM simulation of
1)Tx path consisting of Balun,Switch and Antenna
2)Rx path consisting of Antenna,LNA,Switch and Balun.
I'm new user of this software. Also help me how to import the s-parameters of the above components before doing the simulation.
I'm thankful, if anybody uploads the papares regarding the same............[/b]
i am not so experinced with the designer , but u can follow the getting started ,
if u use ADS i can help
khouly
Thank u khouly..........But I dont have the ADS tool with me........
mmm , ok , try to explore the designer it is a good tool as well , i have a imited knowledge about it , so if want we can exchnage konwledge
khouly
Thank you .............I'm trying to get some expert guidelines for the same.Let me see, if I can finish it successfully. Then definitely we will share mutually..........
If you really want to model from transmitter to receiver do not forget the channel and separation between the transmit and receive antennas. To say this is complicated is a understatment.
Mr Azulykit,
I have only one antenna for both Tx and Rx.I'm using a SPDT switch for Tx/Rx selection.
It sounded like you were looking to perform what is often referred to as a "Link Budget" analysis where a signal is tracked from the source to the final destination. B. Skalar, "Digital Communications" has a good description of the process.
If you intend to only do analysis on a path defined as a or b above, what inputs and outputs are you thinking of comparing? I guess you could treat the balun, filter and antenna as a single entity and evaluate the gain, directivity, s11, radiation pattern, bandwidth and so on.
Link budgets are still meaningful, even with a T/R switch. Even if you have only a single antenna and a T/R switch there is another antenna at the other end of the link. A radar can be an exception but even there link budgets are meaningful.
Your objective is not clear to me. What do you want your "EM simulation" to do? What result do you anticipate?
Ansoft Designer has three major sub-sections: a system analysis tool, a MOM based layout analysis tool and a circuit simulator. The MOM tool can be used for antennas that one might form from PCB like structures.
Exactly, I want to simulate for the S11,S21 of both the paths I have mentioned above. I have the S-parameter files of the above mentioned components.I want to simulate the above paramters, by importing the S-parameters of the components. Also I want to consider the mocrostrip trace widths, dielectric properties etc.
If one end of the path you are simulating is an antenna, S21 is not available directly. Consider the input connector as port 1. Now what are you going to call port 2?
