Improving Power detector sensitivity

时间:04-09 整理:3721RD 点击:
I am trying to use a schottky diode detector for detecting small signal power.
Does anyone know how to improve the detection sensitivity?

- conjugate matching doesnt give good result and I dont know why and how matching should be done.
- Some notes mentioned that biasing could also be used, but I dont really understand how the diode should be biased, can someone give me an example?

Thanks `

Is this a trick question? How about a gain stage in front of it.

Putting a few microamps of forward bias current with an inductor for isolation should improve things. You can also put RF gain before the detector or DC gain after it. If you put DC gain after you can do a differential circuit with another diode forward biased the same way but with no RF going to it.

Hi Flatulent
I am also doing the same thing in my simulation currently.
Mine power detector has input frequency 5.8GHz.
with input power varying from -30dBm to 0dBm.
Do you have any paper or article in which design of microwave power detector is described?
Thanks
