Multiple remote keyless entry transmitters

If I have one remote keyless entry receiver and two or more identical RKE transmitters all transmitting their own security codes, how does the receiver decode the signals from all transmitters and get the code that matches the receiver? I mean, the receiver will pick up all the signals from the transmitters, right? Then what method/algorithm does the receiver use to check if the code it is looking for exists? I am pretty puzzled by this. Thanks!
