Microstrip or cavity filters for C-band
any one clarify me that for C-BAND whether i have to prefer microstrip filters or cavity filters suggest me plz
thank you
The NATO C band
--------------------
The NATO C band is that portion of the electromagnetic spectrum between 500 MHz and 1000 MHz.
In this range of freqs microstrip structure becomes large and you can't design high-Q filters and it's better to use cavity filters however I desing a sharp 50 MHz BW on Fc 405 MHz with hairpin topology and It was fairly good filter.
IEEE C band
--------------
The IEEE C band is a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum in the microwave range of frequencies ranging from 4 to 8 GHz.
In this band you can esily design excellent filters with microstrip structure
Depend on the power level. Cavity filter
will allow more power handling.
However for low frequency does not matter,
microstrip size is prohibited(f~164MHz for
example)
