What is better method for NBI: direct conversion or down conversion mixer with IF<0?

May I ask:

Which one has a better performance in term of NBI/intermodulate cancellation.
-Direct conversion (IF=0) , or down conversion mixer with lower IF?
-for your reason, please introduce some papers/sources
