patch antenna balun
I need to construct a broadband balun for a patch antenna. 2GHz - 2.8GHz.
Could you advise me which balun to use. Please keep it simple, I have to do it at home with minimum possible material.
Thanks
Check here for microstrip balun:

Balun or impedance transformer?
Balun!
i suppose that patch antenna is unbalanced structure(over infinite ground plane(if such a plane exist)) and if you excite it with coaxial it ll be unbalanced to unbalanced. so transformer ll be enough.
Anyway i dont know your design i m just assuming. Also do you need impedance transformation on balun? if so what s your transformation ratio? if not just use quarter vawe coaxial balun( means 1/4 λ lengthened 50 ohm coax. and just couple it to antenna..
Good luck
A half wavelength tapered line could be used as a balun. The bandwidth is not too extreme for that.
Are you sure you want to feed the patch (typically single ended) with a balanced line?
