PLL simulation tools ?

时间:04-08 整理:3721RD 点击:
Dear all,
If I want to see the performance of the PLL, such as, settling time, phase margin, pole, zero, etc. Which software is suitable for the PLL simulation? Thanks a lot!

Hi,
Spectre RF and Eldo RF are the best tools.

Thank you AdvaRes, Some friends told me that the PLL simulation in SpcetreRF is very slow, do you think so?
In addition, could pls send me some tutorial about Eldo RF, is it a free tools?
And, what do you think the SystemView and Matlab software? Pls give some comments.
Thank you very much!

Yes Spectre RF is too slow but very efficient. I heard about a better and quicker version: Spectre Turbo.

There is another tool GoldenGate.

SystemView, and matlab are very speed compared to spectre but are used for system level simulation.

I hope this helped.

If you are looking for settling time, phase margin, etc, then you are looking for a system level design tool. Take a look at Analog Devices SimPLL software as a starting point. Spectre RF and Eldo RF are good if you are doing Transistor level design, but they aren't the tool to start with. I've also done a huge amount of Matlab/Simulink for system level simulation, and that worked out reasonably well. I can recommend those tool if you'd like to go that wey.

Dave

Thank you RFDave.
Could pls send me some tutorials about the Matlab/simulink for system level simulation?

Hello wireless man,

Yes, RFDave is right...

Added to that I know that you can do PLL system simulations in AWR Visual System Simulator (VSS) or Aplac which has got good PLL Macro models & just you need to connect & enter the parameters...

It has lot of PLL example files too.., http://web.awrcorp.com/Usa/Products/APLAC/

see the attached document...

Did you hear about VISSIM ? (www.vissim.com)

Its a block oriented simulation tool for control systems (time and frequency domain).
It is supplied with a huge amount of examples - including a complete and very exact PLL example, which can be simulated with the evaluation version which is distributed for free. The program is very very easy to handle!

Wireless man:

The first place to look is probably Matlab file central. The other thing that would help answer all of your problems is to pick up a copy of James Crawfords Book "Advanced Phase Lock Techniques" which an excellent treatment of PLL's starting at a fairly high level. In addition, he provides Matlab code for all of the figures in the book, which is an excellent starting point.

Dave

In my opinion, ADS is also very good starting point for system level PLL simulations. All necessary blocks are including in its' libraries.
