Mircostrip antenna design

hey guyz

can someone please help me...Im doing a project based on planar array and Linear array but my teacher told me to first make a design on microstrip antenna and play around with the frequency so that i could look at the simulating graphs....so my question is how to make a working model?

i know for starters that i need to make a PCB (blank) board and drill a hole then do i need to stick in the SMA connector? this picture is really confusing me...so can someone please help me.

If I well understand... you are referring to vertical SMA, but in this picture there is an SMA end launch (the inner connector is soldered to the microstrip, the outer is soldered to the bottom ground plane).

End launch connectors are widely used because they have better VSWR than through hole.
