can anyone tell me how does mode and its power distribution

Hi dear brothers and sisters ,
How do I get to know the modes at the input port and output port power distribution ,for example :if there are 10 modes at the input port ,there are 12 modes at the output port ,who is the corresponding mode of mode 1 ? Thanks a lot .
