aperture coupled microstrip feeding procedure

i am designing an aperture coupled microstrip slotted patch antenna at 11.8 GHZ i am confuse how to provide feed to this anteena to achive operating band of atleast 1 GHz. anybody have an idea related to this?/

there are many ways of achieving your bandwidth but first to answer your feed question.i am assuming that you are talking about simulation here and not physical model of the aperture coupled microstrip.

so i am sure you have a little knowledge about drawing the waveport at the edge of the structure for a microstrip.do the same thing but now instead of feeding the patch directly you would be drawing a waveport beginning at ground and then terminating it at the microstrip feed line which is the bottom most layer.

second bandwidth.best way to go about bandwidth is the proper selection of the susbtrates. if gain is not a big issue.
