directional coupler with AWR

hi... ı need to do a simulation with using AWR to design a directional coupler but ı dont know AWR exactly and directional coupler parametres. ıs there anyone to tell me or ıs there any documantation related awr and directional coupler design. thankss

Your best resource would be a microwave circuits textbook. Typically they will cover directional couplers, and give you design equations so you can make just about any version or variation that you want.

There are also some examples in the screenshots that might apply to your situation. Maybe you could use their values as a starting point.

Additionally, you could set up set up a coupled line circuit object and let the optimizer adjust ZO, ZE, spacing, length, etc to find your desired solution. Use a non-EM simulation should go pretty quickly, but using the textbook design equations should yield the ideal circuit implementation.

Also, be sure to search on here for "directional coupler" and see if anyone else has posted about a similar design problem.

Perhaps you might start with knowing the technology available to you: 2D or 3D?, Substrate or MMIC?, etc.

Next you have to decide on the centre frequency, amount of bandwidth needed, and the amount of coupling.

Once you have decided on these factors, you can start thinking of the type of coupler that fits your bill: backward wave, hybrids, lange, slots, broadside, etc. You can do a simulation study with the various models available in AWR. Avoid EM simulations if time is a big factor!
