Zigbee data rates greater than 250 Kbps
While Im waiting for a response from Atmel rep I thought I might ask the question in forum.
Can zigbee radios under IEEE 802.15.4 support data rates greater than 250Kbps?
Can this Atmel chipset support higher data rates above 250kBs and still say that they are zigbee compliant?
Hi
I have been working on Zigbee for quite sometime now,as far as I know zigbee being a Inter-operable standard, all zigbee modules in 2.4ghz band must support a speed of 250kbps not above, in order to ensure inter-operablity from different manufacturers.
The chip you have suggested is unique as it supports protocols based upon 802.15.4 as well as high data rate 2.4 GHz ISM band applications .(may be bluetooth)
As of my knowledge Zigbee doesn't support data rate greater than 250kb/s so if you are using zigbee stack on this chip you will get 250kb/s only. However this chips also supports 500 1000 2000 kb/s for high data rate protocols in 2.4Ghz band.
The zigbee specification says that zigbee compliant devices must support 250kb/s however this does not restricts it to support higher data rates in addition to 250kb/s.
