Insertion loss measurement

I have heard that the insert loss measurement will become more and more popular in the near future,lots of board user epecially for some top IT and telecommunication industry require their PCB suppliers to provide them with the service of insert loss measurement in house! Is it a truly tendency ?
Who on earth need this kind of insert loss measurement ?Are there someone looking for a PCB suppliers who is able to do the insert loss measurement in house in China?pls advice and share with me,thank you!

Since first Printed Circuit Board was invented in 1936, ALWAYS insertion loss was important in PCB design.
Almost any decent PCB design software (or PCB manufacturer) can predict the PCB insertion loss.

I am wondering actually which kind of customers will use this kind of measurement ? server and storage manufacturer? telecommunicaton electronics maker?
Who are they ?

with systems on a chip becoming the norm, and the cost of test connectors too high for most comercial jobs, I think that hardly any boards will be set up for insertion loss measurements in the future.

I could see an argument for VSWR measurements on the board I/O's, however, as a go/no-go test.

In my opinion, boards accomodating tranceivers need insertion loss measurement, also some board-level couplers, etc. Insertion loss is a good measure to characterize how good the power is transfered.
