microstrip trisection filter design
i want to simulate the following microstrip bandpass filter given in microstrip filter for rf applcations by lancaster.so which software should i use?
also i want to design a filter at 770 to 780MHZ....so how to calculate the physical dimensions of the filter for this frequency....plz help

You will need an EM simulator, to account for all these couplings. The layout looks pretty simple, so Sonnet Lite (the free student version of the Sonnet simulator) should work fine.
thanks...but to design 770MHz filter ,how to calculate length and spacings...
Maybe you can scale the resonator length.
One other question: for simulation, you need the substrate data (material + thickness). Do you know this data?
ya i know....substrate thickness is 1.27mm and dielectric constant is 10.8....
Ok, I simulated that and the filter performance looks fine.
Attached is the Sonnet simulation model, as a basis for your own work.
The Sonnet Lite student version has a memory limit of 16MB and we need to use coarse meshing to stay within that limit (filter_coarse.son). The more accurate model with denser mesh (filter.son) takes 22MB.
The Gif file below shows is a similar sort of filter:
You can download the MWO file for this on www.rfshop.co.uk/quasiell.emp
volker,,how I can open that files that you give..?
Sonnet Lite
volker,,do you know the formulas to find the physical dimensions of that one..?
No, sorry.
