semi-infinite boundary condition in CST
I am trying to simulate the reflection magnitude on a semi-infinite glass or metal material illuminated by the EM wave from the free space.
Which template should I use and how to define the semi-infinite boundary condition?
For the material library in MWS, which model is used to model the dielectric function of materials? Please help to answer these questions.
Thank you in advance!
Hello fxth,
What do you mean by semi-infinite? Is it like finite dimension in say X-axis and infinite in Y-axis? For this use periodic boundary conditions in ±Y axis, keep rest open add space. if you go to dispersion in material properties of any particular material, there is user defined list. you can check the dielectric values and functions used. Hope it helps.

Hey Praful,
Thanks for your reply.
Actually, I am doing a simple simulation to find the complex reflection from the metal surface. For simplicity, the space is divided into two parts, z<0 is totally occupied by metal and z>0 is free space. I am not sure if CST can define this kind of boundary condition due to its 3D feature.
