hfss + out of memory
i face a "out of memory" in my hfss program.
i use 32 bit windows with 3G RAM.
what can i to over com this problem?
is there any benefit in using windows 64 bit?
can hfss be installed on 64 bit as well as 32 bit?
thx
Hi,
A very big air box size or may be if the structure is large then a very fine mesh sometimes create problems. You may try to adjust these parameters and then go for analyzing the problem.
Hope this helps

This will happen if you're trying to simulate an electrically large model. A few possible solutions:
-If you're doing a frequency sweep, look at a lower top end - change your range so you're not simulating as high of frequencies
-If possible, use PEC instead of finite conductors - depends on your model
-If doing a frequency sweep, set to discrete rather than fast sweep - it will take forever but HFSS often simulates at one frequency correctly, it just can't handle the fast sweep
-If possible tweak your solution parameters - what's your delta-S or delta-E, how many converged passes do you require, how much does the mesh refine each pass, etc
3G RAM is not a lot for HFSS. You may just be out of luck depending on your model.
hello,
The system you using is very low level for the EM simulations, with only 3GB RAM and 32 bit OS, I afraid you won't be able to simulate large problems. Nevertheless .. switch to 64 bit os and try to optimize your design. make use of symmetries where possible. Also in HFSS it is good idea to reduce the frequency range.
