Hey!
I like to simulate a Waveguide for the X Band in the time domain (TDR).
Therefor I make a broadband frequency sweep from DC ... 10 GHz.
BUT now I wonder myself in which way the frequencies from DC to ≈7 GHz may be important since they are not excited or at least become faded out very quickly?!
Further I wonder if the solution frequency MUST be at least 7 GHz to get informative results? Or can I also set it to 2 GHz for example since I make a frequency sweep over the whole frequency band.
Regards!

you should adjust the setting of sweep on 8 GHz to 12 Ghz. I carried out it by R&S VNA for detecting the distance of objects from antenna. It is was very interesting.
Whats about the results if you start sweeping at 8 GHz? Still informative?
And which value for the solution frequency do you suggest?
a post processing routine is carried out by VNA and the results are very good. For more information you should see the application notes of Ajilant company about TDR (Attached file).
I should note that I am using HFSS.
