magic tee hfss
I've built the HFSS example of Magic Tee. I was checking the phase information. Surprisingly I'm getting exactly contradictory results.
The phase at the Co-linear ports (2 & 4) is out-of-phase when driven by the Sigma port (3) and the phase at the co-linear ports (2 & 4) is in-phase when driven by the Delta Port (1).
I've attached the HFSS file. Please let me know why I'm getting these results...
Thanks,
-Prakash
Can someone please help?
Hi Prakash!
It is really a funny problem. I don't have any explanation. If you take a look at the E_field_vector you can see the correct phases.
Anyway, I changed the design a bit (didn't add the arms but subtract from one another) of magic-T. Now you can see correct phases.
Take a look at the attachement.

Hi hkprakash7
I simulated magic-T model a month ago and met the same problem.
When I changed some sizes a little, the phase responses sometimes are correct and sometimes are wrong. I cannt explain it and ignore it.
In theory, it is impossible. I dont know what is the matter with the HFSS.
I assume it has something to do with the definition of the E-field at the ports. There are two possibilities what edge the E-field of the TE10 mode starts from and where it ends. This can confuse the phase of your results.
