how to understand the gainphi and gaintheta of hfss
i have being study HFSS these days.but i cant get the ideal of gainphi and gaintheta in HFSS. i had found them in the function of help of HFSS.it doesnot work.so help me
Are you simulating antennas? I have never used hfss but those sound like the components of the gain for azimuth and elevation angles.
Maybe this thread will give some enlightenment:

Also, go to the following link and enter "theta phi hfss" and search:

Another good idea is to add the word "tutorial" to any searches. Try going to google and searching for "hfss tutorial", for example.
Good luck.

Make sure you clearly understand what the spherical theta and phi directions are. Remember that the theta always points along the elevation direction and phi is in the azimuth from X axis. They are not like X, Y, Z vectors which always point in fixed directions.
Personally, I would advise following the Ludwig3 convention as it is easier to handle and interpret.

thanks. thats kind of you.
