Generating plot with Hfss

hello,

I created a rectangular waveguide, it's resaults seems ok,

but I dont know how to generate a graph of K vs beta(Z propogation constant).

I was looking at Results -> Create modal solution of data report ->Rectangular plot

specifically, i couldn't find K or lambda or so (just S parameters or Gamma, SWR and so).

You can use HFSS calculator to calculate the parameters and then can plot them.
HFSS does not calculate all the parameters by default. It calculates the basic parameters and then by using HFSS calculator you can calculate and subsequently plot them

so I just need to define them as local variables ? or in a different way?

Do you know how to use HFSS Calculator?
Just open calculator and define the formula of the parameter you want to calculate.
As in HFSS calculator certain results from Simulation are already available.
For example beta = 2Pi/Lembda
HFSS->fields->calculator
Opens HFSS calculator
Then use following buttons on calculator
to define 2
press NUMBER
choose Scalre and enter 2 as value
To define PI
Press CONSTANT and choose PI
and so on enter all the values
when finished use ADD and name it Beta now it will be available for plotting

I will check it out and i'll let you know if it will make me some troubles(hfss is new to me)

Well as we know K is a non linear function of beta

is dependent on the structure itself and it"s symmetry and it's mode.

How can I define it using the calculator? If i would like to compute for several modes Kcn,m will vary
so do i need to define it for each mode separately?

First thing yes you have to calculate for all modes of interest but the good point is that function define in HFSS calculator remains available you just need to call it and evaluate it for the mode of interest .
An important point regarding exponential functions there is no provision of exponential function in calculator but you can exploit Euler Identity to convert exponents in the combination of sine and cosine functions and then use it.
The attacking way is to simplify the formulas mathematically and then define the small chunks and then combine them to get the results.
