How to excite a stripline in HFSS?
can anywone give me a hint about how to excite a stripline in hfss?
in real strip wiil be feed by a coaxial cable but i didn't want to design it (i shiuld design al the connector). Can i use a wave port? but do i have to set two modes and two integration lines?
or should i somehow connect the 2 groundplane?
many thanks
gareth
Just use wave ports and 1 integration line per port. See attachment and reference.

thanks madengr but i'm not surei got what you mean..just to be sure
you advise to you just one wave port for each side with an integration line from bottom ground to center line? what about top ground?
i saw your reference , is sonnet software equivalent to hfss one? cause i' m using it...
thanks again....

sorry but i could open your file? is ok for version 9
i guess so but it doesn't work ...
thaks again

Yes, just two wave ports with one integration line each, from GND plane to strip. Now if the GND to strip spacing was asymetrical there might be a problem.
Review the Sonnet link and they show how a losses stripline is a good standard since the impedance is know (analytically I beleive). I used this to bencmark acuraccy vs simulation time for a number of packages, of which one was HFSS 10.0. If you use the same setuop they use you should be able to compare simulation to theory. My error convereged to 0.8%.
The files is ver 10. Does not look like I can save as 9.
I don't know for sure the integration line is correct but I get the correct answer.
