USING AGILENT PNA- help please
I have Agilent PNA, Summit9000 probestation and Infinity probes. Theres a software WINCAL to perform calibration. For calibration and measurement from computer I have GPIB card from CEC.
Various CDs I have contain
1. GPIB driver software(from CEC- came along with board, from NI
downloaded)
2. VISA software(NI,Agilent-both downloaded)
3. Wincal 3.2.1
Iam struggling with thsi stuff for nealy 15 days or more but i cudnt get the connection between VNA and the computer. The software wincal says "GPIB-VISA failure etc.
If any of u who have experience in these matter help i wud be thankful to u
advance thanx

If you can afford a PNA and C-Micro probe station what are you doing with an off-brand GPIB card?
Seriously, go with NI adapters and you should not have problems. The only drivers you should install are the NI ones.
I have used Wincal via NI PCI-GPIB, Ethernet GPIB, and USB-GPIB with no problems.
You can use the NI Spy program to see if commands are even getting out of the GPIB board but I think your problem is some driver issue.
hi
THANKS for ur reply. Now im planning to try doing calibration WITHOUT wincal (JUST VNA AND PROBESTATION- no computer). How good will that be i donno. any suggestion?. I want to know what value addition WINCAL does?. My frequency of interest is only 50MHz to 5GHz. If im sounding stupid forgive me...but reply

Added after 1 minutes:
oh...will the wincal work without GPIB...can it be loaded directly on VNA? I tried that with wincal3.1 it was not even opening. Now i have wincal 3.2.1 shud i go ahead and install on VNA?
The Wincal software allows for LRM, and LRL calibration, and also contains the cal coefficients for the CMicro substrates. You can do LRL and TRL on the PNA but I have never done the LRM (there is also an LRMM in Wincal) directly on the PNA. I would suggest getting the Wincal working. I would not install anything on the PNA. It's too easy to mess up windows.
