I. Summary:
Responsible for streaming and multiplexing technology development using DTS audio. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
o Digital media stream analysis and generation
o Multiplexing of DTS-HD, M6/M8 and evolving DTS codecs into multiple container formats
o Coding of libraries and tools relating to DTS streaming and multiplexing activities
o Develop and optimize implementations of libraries supporting common streaming protocols such as MPEG-DASH and others
o Contribution to and review of standards relating to DTS in streaming and multiplexing
o Performing research and feasibility studies including defining the scope and goals of streaming and multiplexing research tasks and completion of detailed reports on results and recommendations for development activities
o Guide and/or assist members of the team with technical issues
o Creation of certification plans and test streams for streaming and multiplexing systems, products, libraries and tools
o Certification of streaming systems and tools
o Mentoring staff
o Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities:
o N/A
IV. Education and/or Experience:
o Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering field is required. Masters degree in Engineering is a plus
o Knowledge of digital media streaming technologies and practical applications of streaming technology for content delivery or IPTV including Ultraviolet, Common Streaming format.
o Knowledge of ISO BMF format, MP4, MPEG2 transport streams is a must. Experience of other container formats such as MKV or CFF is a bonus. Experience with MPEG-DASH and CSF is highly beneficial Experience in Internet delivery of digital media
o Demonstrable knowledge of C/C++/Java requiredFamiliarity with the software life cycle, including requirements capture, planning, tracking, documentation, implementation, testing and maintenance
o Familiarity with the following preferred:
o Knowledge of digital signal processing theory
o Psychoacoustics and digital audio
o Background in broadcast, IPTV, digital content delivery, streaming, mobile applications, PC software or consumer products is a plus
o Knowledge of audio codecs would be a bonus
o DSP implementation experience desirable
V. Computer Skills:
o Must possess excellent computer skills
o In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) a must.
VI. Other Skills & Abilities:
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to proof and edit
o Strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate technically related information to a non-technical audience
o Strong personal interest in music and audio
o Strong teamwork and project-related skills
o Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work with little supervision.
