How do you add an area on a PCB that limits the components placed in that area are below a specific height requirement ?
To add an area to limit components to a specific height, do the following:
1. From the menu, select: Setup--> Areas --> Package Keepout
2. Select the class/subclasss you wish to add the shape to (Package Keepout / Top or Package Keepout / Bottom) and draw the shape in the area where the height constraint will apply. If there are any components sitting on the newly defined keepout area, a DRC error will appear.
3. After placing the shape, go to the menu and select: Setup --> Areas --> Package Height. The status menu will display the current class / subclass, Min. Height and Max Height fill in boxes that are grayed out. As soon as you select the Package Keepout shape, you will be able to input either a minimum height, or both a minimum or maximum height to the shape. There is also a nice little diagram on the status menu showing you how the height constraints apply.
4. After you input the desired height constraint on the box in the status menu, right mouse button click and select done. The DRC error should disappear if the components on the keepout area meet the newly applied height constraint.
