minkowski curve
I think you can do it with matlab. you get a text file then import this file to IE3d
pl
Yes. You can use any software to create the polygons and put them into .3dt files and import them into IE3D. The .3dt file is very simple and it is documented in the Appendix of IE3D User's Manual.
Thanks to jian and plasma.
The act of creating a polygonal figure which is highly iterated or in other words drawing a polygon of such complexity is cumbersome.I know we could just import the x and y coordinated later into ie3d by using the import 2d file option. The problem at my hand friends is first to generate the figure.I cannot sit and draw the polygon manually. I have added two pictures to aid you.the one named "easy initial "can be drawn without pain on ie3d.The second one named curve is a bit complex ,it involves replacing each arm by same initial curve(fractal definition). Now I want to increase this further to next replacement. Please help with a software or automated process to get the x y coordinates for the complicated geometry. Thanks a lot.It would mean a lot to me.
Hi:
I am not sure what it means "replace each arm by same initial..". Give me some detail. Thanks!
best regards,
Hello Jian
Sorry for the late reply. Was a bit busy..
"Replacing initial" means
Lets say there are 4 arms and each arm is replaced by another arm of the same initial geometry and so on...or much better you could see this animation to see what I mean..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:An...i_Triangle.gif
of course in this case the geometry is a square and not a rectangle
All i need is a way to generate these coordinates easily than manually drawing such complex structures.
Thanks
If you are not doing optimization, the best way to generate such a structure is to use the .3DT format documented in the Appendix. You can use Excel, Mathlab or whatever software to create the pattern of shapes and import it thru .3DT format. It is very simple.
If you want to define the size as optim variable, then you will need to use IE3DLIBRARY to parameterize the structure. It may take some time to parameterize it. However, after the parameterization, you can change the dimensions easily without redrawing it.
Thanks Jian for the quick reply.
i needed help in knowing how it is done in matlab or is there any easy GUI software that can generate the co ordinates(position of coordinates as variables) in the sense if we just change the variable all the coordinates must automatically change.
thanks
You should be able to define lines with vertices dependent upon variables on either matlab and Excel. Certainly, if you have many rules, it would be better to use Matlab so that you can program it. After you program it, just run the program and output the data into .3dt and use IE3D/MGRID to view it.
Hi jian
I think he look for some menu for drawing polyline but with width. we need
menu that we can choose the width length of line and angel. and then after each entry we will see the line. like waking in maze.

could you please be more clear on what you are trying to say?
Dear fractalguy,
now you can draw this fractal only by drawing a lot of rectangles for each rectangle
you need to open new window. but if you have one window such as excel page, that
you can type there the segments of the fractal antenna and add there a preview
button to see all of it before click OK

I have attached a picture of the geometry.I am not following what you mean by new window for new rectangle and many rectangles..
thanks
