433mhz module

Does this un shielded module require a shield? when operating next to 3V MCU? . Anyone has axperience with it . BTW it has 10dBm O/P and work at 3V .

Thanks
Ts

RF power is mainly radiated from the antenna rather than the module. Shielding may be required for suppresion of spurious and harmonics in some cases, but the module manufacturer's conformance declaration must specify, if necessary.

The MCU operation should never be affected by 10 dBm RF, unless you have a very bad layout or long unfiltered wires connected to MCU pins.

Thanks , That means the radiating antenna at 10dBm doesnt cause any effect to the transmitter itself/MCU even if it is left un shielded. Does this also implies to any Interference from radiated emmision to the Transceiver aswel?

This is summitek.com.tw part , I guess the manufacturer wont reply much with such issues . I plan to leave it without shield , would this be ok ? , or do you have any idea/experience with such modules left un shielded please advise.

I wouldn't expect any.

Do you refer to passive EMC of the receiver (susceptibility)? Yes, I think so.

Mainly spurious and harmonics of the transmitter should be feared. If they are transmitted through the antenna output, a shielding doesn't help anyway. Without trustworthy specifications and conformance declarations from the manufacturer, you have to perform your own EMC measurements.

In my view , you should have the provision for the shilding . You test first if it's effecting the transmitter or not . If yes you have the build option .

Any way @433MHz with +10dBm output is very unlikely to effect the transmitter ,only case i see is bad transmitter or bad layout

Hi Trishool,
What are you trying to make with this module?
If its commercial product then I guess shielding will needed, since you need to carry out EMI/EMC test
any way you are going to enclose it with something.
So use it. :)

Ya, I meant susceptibility . How about shielding the module + MCU all together ? , or separate would be cumbersome !.

Thanks all for the valuable inputs.
