hello all...
does chicken mesh antenna exits?
i heard in one book about chicken mesh antenna and first time heard the name of this type of antenna...so i m asking...does this antenna exits?

Yes, it does exist.

Many satellite antenas are "chicken mesh" made.

When you need a reflective surface regarding microwaves you usually go for a piece of sheet metal - this is the obvious solution.

However, you can also use a metallic mesh. If the mesh holes are much smaller than the wavelength, then the mesh behaves also as a good reflactor.

By using a mesh you save in materials, weight and money. Is a satellite antena you can build the dish using a mesh.

As a small example: the front door in your microwave oven has a grid behind the glass, and that grid allows you to see into the oven's cavity. However, since the diameter of those holes (around 2 or 3 mm) are much smaller than the microwave wavelength inside your oven (around 122 mm or 4.8 inches) the grid is a good reflector. Hence, from the outside you are well protected regarding microwaves.
