best antenna design software
May I know the pros and cons of the various commercial software for antenna design... example -->Ansoft Designer, Microwave Office etc
thanks

I think that would be a long discussion however
for planar antennas you have several choices
IE3D (I worked on it and it was just fine)
Momentum (I don't have it so I cannot tell)
for 3D structures you have
HFSS
CS Microwave Studio
XFDTD
Microstripes
all of them have advantages and disadvantages according to your specific needs so you need to be more specific in which application is good at what

Hi there,
I've used IE3D for antenna design purpose. It is a good tool ...try that out.
ADS momentum is not bad for starter.however, the HFSS is more accurate which is based on FTDM.
I've decided to use CST Microwave Studio.
Does anyone here have the manual and tutorial for this software.
I'll really appreciate it if you could post it... so i can download.
My experience tells me that for 3D problems HFSS is the most accurate and efficient.
See ya.
2D --- IE3D
3D --- HFSS
2D-IE3d,very useful.
3D-HFSS, accurate.
hi folks.

in this site you are able ask CD for free..
Good Luck.
Cyrix-Craker
for a 2D is enough Sonnet. For 3D i used CST and HFSS.
I think CST is more appropiate for high digital signal
design and HFSS is more apropiate for RF/microwave
design
i usially used HFSS and Labview
Hi all,
I think softwares based on full-wave approach are very cool.
But it is not simple to model (you need training and have enough passion)
the calculation itself takes lot of time.
I mean, it would be better, at the first approximation for the design,
we use some analytical approach/approximation, just like given in many
textbooks (Balanis, Kraus, Stutzman, etc.). Prof. Pozar wrote a book on it
about 20 years ago with basic-codes (i am not sure, is there any other
extensive codes in other programming languages today). So, we can get
some rough data (geometrical or material) through this simple and fast
calculation.
In the second step, we can then make little calculation with HFSS, IE3D, CST
and so on
regards
HFSS
Sonnet Lite is the best software and it is free
For antenna microstrip design you can use Microwave Office or Sonnet program...
For planar antennas, I use Ansoft Ensemble SV (based on experiences, its not too bad :D)
For 3D structures antennas, for me, the best is XFDTD! (hey, I need time domain analysis). Altought many others say HFSS or CST still the best....depend on your needs, I think
For 3D i used CST and HFSS.
hi ,i think every one is suitable for some application ,ansfot designer for fss,cst for 3d application, hfss more faster but large memory required
depends on wat type of antenna that u wanna simulate...
like planar antennas, u can use IE3D..
i use it for my pifa antennas..
really good
if the antenna is planer , i recomend the Ansoft Designer (MoM), it's fast and accurate.
for 3D antennas Ansoft HFSS is good to.
