Stability of LC oscillator

Hello,

Typically what sort of stability could be expected from a typical collpitts LC oscillator?

It mostly involves the temperature coefficient of the inductor and capacitors you use.

In fact the main factor which influences the stability of a free running LC oscillator is the oscillation frequency. Lower the frequency better the stability.

I’ve seen well designed Colpitts LO’s using temperature compensated components (f = few MHz) with stability 1x10^-5

Bias currents and temperature drift of transistor parameters are also concerned..
