very low power consumption in mixer?
i wanna ask about consumption in mixer based on Schottky diode.
When we have :
VDC=0V (0 V bias for diode),
RF Power : 0dBm
and LO power=10dBm
can we say that the designed mixer has a very low power consumption ?
If no, when can we say that ?
or RF and LO powers must be negative value to say that mixer is ...?
Thank you in advance,
N
It all depends upon the total system power. Since mixers are usually the highest IMD contribution part of a system, this is no place to be stingy with power.
If i have understood we can not say for mixers are low power consumption or no ?
but i have seen in many paper they talk on mixers where they say that the mixers works with a very low power...!
What do you can say about that ?
Thanks in advance

is it low power LO?
i guess so, becoz earlier designs were with out LO amplifier.
the LO is 10dBm
what do you think ? is it high ?
It is OK, depend on requirement, even zero or 4dBm LO powered mixers are available now.
For the same functionality earlier designs requires near 20dBm powers.
yeah but i think we can not say that mixer is less or low power consumption!
since, other mixer can give a good performance with very low LO power such -3 dBm..
