which tool to use for the following sceniro-antenna
i am facing problem in antenna design.
what i have to do is ,design one transmitter and receiver. and i hav to vary the position of either transmitter and receiver, and i have to study the radiation pattern of these by varying the distance.
how to do this/
which tool support this?
help
It is more dependent of types of antennas and driving circuits you are dealing with, thus in general such problems could be successfully simulated in any of Antenna Design tools (EMCoS Antenna VirtualLab, FEKO, WIPL-D, CST, HFSS, xFDTD, ...). Also important question is distances you are testing - if you have large space separation between you antennas (even meter or more) you better to work with Method of Moments tools, thus they do not require meshing of the free space.
I would recommend to start with Antenna VirtualLab, thus it is easy to use and effective for such kind of simulations (http://emcos.com/index.php?id=166). You can request Student Version from the site.
thanks for the reply
is it possible to transmit data through antenna using any of the tools mentioned above and finally receiving correponding data through receiving antenna.
If it is not possible how to do this?
Yes, this is possible.
The most suitable way is to apply ports on both antennas and calculate S21 between them for set of positions you are interested in. S21 (transmission coefficient) will show you how much of energy radiated by first antenna is actually received by second. S21 is directly available in post-processing functions of these tools.
