How to test a TSOP1136 ?

hello,
i have a TSOP1136 and i want to test it..
i sent a direct IR beam and checked all the pins. but nothing happens... (Vcc and Gnd supplied)

I think you need to use a 36kHz modulated IR signal.

Keith

and how can i do that? :D

If you have a signal generator, you can use that connected to an LED through a resistor. If you haven't then you need to build a circuit to do it. If you have some other circuit planned to send data or signals to the IR receiver, then now is the time to build it. If you haven't thought about that side yet, then a 555 timer circuit will be able to drive the LED (through a current limiting resistor).

but how can i give a 36KHz signal? im just using DC supply..

If you build a 555 timer circuit you set the frequency at 38kHz. A DC supply is not enough - you need more circuitry. If you want to avoid the problem of modulating the LED you need to use a simple photodiode or phototransistor, but then you could have problems with ambient light.
