Photonic Integrated Circuits information

Hi,
Can someone provide me with links to introductory material on optical ICs? I'd like introductory information (more qualitative than quantitative) on waveguides, TE/TM modes, semiconductor lasers, LEDs, optic couplers, interferometers Mach Zehder, Fabry Parot filters, AWGs, Bragg gratings.

Exactly that. It is not my field but I have a friend who does just that - optics on silicon such as optical switches.
